Jesus Teachings

Sermon Mount Jesus MormonAtonement – Through the atonement of Jesus Christ and own good works, we can be saved and return to live with our Heavenly Father.

Baptism – We read in Matt 3:15, that “it was necessary to fulfill all righteousness.”  Jesus Christ was a perfect man and he was still baptized to set a precedent for his followers.

Charity – Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of one who lived a life of charity.  A charitable person is forgiving, understanding, service-oriented, humble, always willing to help, and always looks at people in a tolerant or favorable way.

Faith – Faith is to “hope for things which are not seen, which are true.”  Jesus Christ lived a life guided by strong faith and encourages us to do the same.

Fasting – Jesus Christ taught us the importance of fasting throughout His earthly ministry. He taught that through fasting, we can feel a heightened sense of the spirit and stengthen our relationship with God.

Forgiveness -  One of the main reasons why Jesus Christ led such an uplifted and joyous life is because of his ability to forgive.

Godhead – The Godhead is comprised of God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.  Mormons believe these three to be distinctly separate people who share a common purpose.

The Holy Ghost – The Holy Ghost helps us make wise decisions and acts as a companion for those who are baptized in Jesus’ name.

Plan of Salvation – Through Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father’s plan for our happiness can be brought about.

Prayer – Prayer is a gift that is meant to strengthen our relationship with both Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  According to Mormon belief, a prayer is said to the father in the name of his son, Jesus Christ.

Sacrifice – No other individual has ever shown greater sacrifice than Jesus Christ through the atonement.

Service – Jesus spent His time on earth serving His fellow man.  The New Testament is filled with accounts that prove His commitment to serving others.

Spiritual Gifts – We are all given unique and divine spiritual gifts in order to do the Lord’s work here on earth.
